An occasion to celebrate. This year, we are letting our amazing team at the Sacajawea Hotel cook for us. However, I love this time of year to create in the kitchen and experiment for next Thanksgiving I host. I’ve been making our favorite Thanksgiving sides, including butternut squash soup, cauliflower mashed potatoes, and pumpkin brussel sprout salad.

I’m in the mood to pull out my holiday decor this week because our house feels like a complete winter wonderland right now. We got a lot of snow while I was away for the the week. Olivia and I may have listened to some holiday music this morning as well.

Some of my favorite get-togethers have been for the little ones (Halloween 2019 seen here). Before having kiddos, Halloween was my least favorite holiday. Now that Olivia is at a really fun age, it makes each celebration even better.

A quick getaway to Flathead Lake was the perfect way to detach from everything that is going on in the world. We’ve obviously kept close to home this summer, and Flathead Lake is only about a 4 hour drive from Bozeman.

I’m up for our series ‘At Home with The Farmer’s Daughters.’ Well I’m the other half to the Farmer’s Daughters. Stemming from our agriculture roots, opening a fresh food cafe is in our DNA. My sister and I started our first business together selling vegetables at our family’s deli in Three Forks, MT.

We are all about picnics these days. With the shelter in place + social distancing orders, we are getting creative with changing location for lunch and dinner. Nick and I have a favorite picnic spot we found years ago.

Growing up I was no stranger to the Agricultural community and very much felt a member. While not being a daughter of a farmer or rancher myself, I had so many friends that were and spent countless hours with their family riding horses and being wild and free range kids.

Crispy artichokes are a favorite in our house for a great appetizer or to accent a pasta dish.

With my sister, Polly Pocket (the story behind her nickname is REAL good!), we run the Farmer’s Daughters Café and RSVP Motel. I also do the sales and events at our other property, the Sacajawea Hotel, and the social media for our businesses.

My name is Sheryl Ott. I am a wife, mother, breast cancer thriver and founder of Dare to Detour, a woman’s retreat based business established in Bozeman, MT in 2017. I’ve had the good fortune of living on both coasts, but Montana has had my heart since I first visited the state when I was 18.

Greetings Friends - goodness what a time to be alive. For most of us these past few months have been anything short of challenging. Full of far too many tumultuous and fear ridden moments, but also just as many positive ones too - moments of rest and relaxation and much needed quality time.

Since becoming a mom of two this year, my organization skills have gone to the next level. Before having children, I never fully understood the need for a dedicated diaper bag. I would see mothers hauling around oversized bags, and wonder what could be in there.
